It’s a story about a girl whose hair changes colour according to her mood.
One day she wakes up with blue hair and is very sad 😞
She meets another boy with blue hair and he tells her it’s okay to be sad because sometimes everyone is sad.
Lucy tells her mum and dad that she is sad and that helps. Soon Lucy feels much better.
Lucy still has blue days (and red when she’s cross and purple when she’s excited etc) but she knows that, like every other feeling she has, that that’s okay too.
As a follow-up activity Yr3 drew pictures of themselves on a purple day and a blue day…..
On Safer Internet Day Year 7 had a discussion about staying safe online and produced posters to illustrate their thoughts.
PROUD OF ALL OF OUR YR7 PUPILS
TODAY AND TOMORROW AND THE NEXT DAY
Over recent days we have been talking to the children about receiving their AQE/GL results on Saturday 5th February; some will be elated, others satisfied and still others disappointed.
Irrespective of their scores, we have assured them that they are still just as special as they always were. We know that they have given their best and we are proud of all of them. They need to know that their score doesn’t change how proud we are of them as parents and teachers. The transfer test is just one small step on their educational journey.
Our children are so much more than a score on a letter:
they are talented players, budding artists, fabulous fiction writers, meticulous researchers, magnificent musicians, fantastic prefects (they took the oath this morning), compassionate classmates (most of the time), mind-blowing number crunchers, inquisitive thinkers, brilliant builders, incredible problem solvers, loyal friends, determined entrepreneurs and thoughtful givers.
They have so much still to learn, so much new stuff to explore, so much to give, so much to create, so many more belly laughs to laugh and a few more tears to cry. They are little people being formed and shaped with each new experience, each new day. Who knows what they will become, the options are limitless.
Saturday may be a testing time for you as a parent; be calm (when your head is upside down) and reassure your child that together you will find a good school for them in the days ahead. When foolish talk fills the airwaves, the Whatsapp Group and even the church hall this is when you earn your corn as parents.
If your child is disappointed tomorrow please do not allow them to beat themselves up over the result of an exam taken when they are just 10 years of age. Nothing is set in stone tomorrow; the world will continue to rotate on it axis and the sun will rise. It is what they do moving forward that really matters.
Remind them, as I have done, that they will never be asked for their transfer result on a job application or when applying for a further education place - it will be what they achieve at GCSE, BTEC or A-levels will count.
What is important is how they apply themselves from now on, and when they go to their new school, whatever its name, or the colour of its blazer or tie. They can all achieve great things.
I think it is good for the children to talk to their classmates over the weekend about their scores to get everything out in the open before they return to school on the Monday. This can be difficult but it does help.
Although they are only 10 and 11 years old, we are asking them to be sensitive and mature; to be happy for those who are pleased with their result and to be considerate and understanding towards those who are perhaps disappointed or upset.
The postman has agreed to meet parents at Laurel Bank View tomorrow, between 9.15am and 9.30am.
In the event of a result not arriving on Saturday you should contact:
AQE Office 02890 224 002 (from 2.00pm – 3.30pm)
GL results are being emailed
Moneyrea PS Mobile 077 865 47 311
Email rgreer448@gmail.com
Please note that this is only to confirm a result and not to discuss future options.
Whatever Saturday brings we will be here to help and advise you through the next stage in the transfer process.
Thinking of you all.
