We are pleased to announce the election of our School Council for 2018-19. At Moneyrea, our Council is made up of sixteen pupil representatives, eight boys and eight girls, from Years 4 to 7. Following on from classroom discussions about the role of Pupil Representatives, and the qualities they would require to fulfil this important position, the children put their names forward for election. Each pupil was then required to prepare and make a short presentation to their classmates, to convince them to cast their vote for them.
Elections were held in late September in our school assembly hall. The Year 7s organised a secret ballot using voting slips, polling booths and a ballot box, borrowed from the Electoral Office. Following the election the successful candidates were declared elected at our Friday assembly and each received a special School Council Badge.
School Council meets once a month, on a Friday, under the guidance of Mrs Sullivan and Miss Anderson. Council will be discussing topics of concern to our pupils ranging from school meals to environmental issues and a host of other topics between. We look forward to a successful inaugural year and wish our Pupil Reps every success in their new role.
