  ONE CLICK AWAY

  SAFEGUARDING and PROTECTING our CHILDREN

  Child Protection and Safeguarding are central to our role as parents and teachers. Unfortunately, access to the internet and YouTube etc. means our children are ONE CLICK AWAY from graphic and inappropriate material.

  We have become aware that primary-aged pupils are accessing video clips of programmes such as SQUID GAME via YouTube. Squid Game is a Netflix, game-based series which depicts extremely violent scenes and other age inappropriate material.

  Schools across the UK are finding that children are mimicking these games in the playground. Of greater concern is that as children watch age-inappropriate material they are absorbing a negative value system that we would not wish to promote as parents or educators.

  I would therefore ask parents to ensure that all internet routers, tablets, laptops and mobile phones have parental controls applied and that parents monitor their children’s use of the internet and access to video material. Our children are just one click away from emotionally harmful material.

  It is important that all parents take opportunity to talk to their children about the positive and negative aspects of the internet and social media. Children need to know how to behave appropriately online and how to keep themselves safe from harm.

  Piping tuition commenced today for our senior pupils.

  We are very fortunate to have Ian Burrows as our pipe instructor for the next 10 weeks.

  As part of the fun the children have been investigating waterproof materials which could be used to make a nest to keep the Greggs dry.
