Anti-Bullying Week
During Anti-Bullying Week our children were thinking about what bullying behaviour is and how they can react if bullying occurs.
Nursery read the story “Sharing a Shell” by Julia Donaldson and talked about how it makes us feel when children are kind and share with us.
Yr1 were learning what to do when they see someone being hurtful or unkind. They watched a video where Topsy and Tim stand up for their friend and tell a grown up about the bullying behaviour.
Our Yr2s were learning about what makes a good friend or a bad friend and what bullying means. They shared the stories ‘Don’t be a Bully Billy’ and ‘The Bully and the Shrimp’ to learn what to do if someone is being unkind to them.
Yr3 watched a Twinkl PowerPoint and talked about what bullying is and how it’s not just a falling out with your friend. They talked about what to do if you’re being bullied and what to do if you see someone else being bullied.
Yrs 4 and 5 watched a video by BBC Teach to mark anti-bullying week 2024. The children had some great discussions around how to manage disagreements and shared their ideas with each other.
Yr6 were looking at our school's Acorn Values during Anti-Bullying week. They talked about respect and completed a diamond ranking activity based on the effects and consequences of bullying.
Yr7 explored different forms of bullying, especially cyber bullying . Using BBC Teach the pupils watched videos about why people bully and what it is liked to experience bullying. Discussion groups came up with strategies as to what they would do if they experienced bullying or witnessed bullying in a variety of circumstances.
They also completed an Adobe Express lesson making anti-bullying posters . They are planning to make a video clip or animation this Friday.
