Retirement

RETIREMENT
Thank You, Christine Floyd
Celebrating 25 Years of Dedication:
Dear Parents and Families,
As we approach the end of this school year, we would like to take a moment to celebrate an extraordinary milestone and bid a fond farewell to Mrs Christine Floyd, who is retiring after 25 years of dedicated service at Moneyrea Primary School.
Christine began her journey teaching Year 5, before finding her true calling in Year 2, where she has nurtured and inspired generations of young learners during those important early years. Her classroom has always been a vibrant, bustling place of warmth, encouragement, and high expectations - helping children develop confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Throughout her career, Christine has made an exceptional contribution to school life far beyond the classroom. She has held numerous key roles, including:
Head of Key Stage
Designated Teacher for Child Protection
PE Coordinator
Literacy Coordinator
SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
In recent years, she has also served as Acting Principal and as a co-opted member of the Board of Governors, demonstrating her strong leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the school community.
Christine has been instrumental in driving forward major developments within the school, including After School and Holiday Club provision, and playing a key role in the establishment of Moneyrea Nursery Unit, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations of pupils and families.
Sport has been another important part of Christine’s contribution. She proudly carried forward the strong netball tradition at Moneyrea PS, first established by Lynda Bethel, and organised the local netball league and much-vaunted Annual Moneyrea Netball Tournament, welcoming schools from across the Lisburn and Castlereagh area. It was especially fitting that, in her final year, the Moneyrea girls were crowned tournament winners, a wonderful and memorable tribute to her dedication.
Christine has also been a valued supporter of the PTA, regularly attending meetings and enthusiastically contributing to school events. Many of you will remember her taking part in several memorable productions, including:
Winning Strictly Come Dancing with a broken toe!
Performing as a member of ABBA at La Mon Hotel
And most recently, appearing as part of a staff girl band
Her willingness to get involved, have fun, and support the wider school community has brought great joy to pupils, parents, and colleagues alike.
As parents, many of you will have your own cherished memories of Christine—her kindness, her encouragement, and the care she has shown to every child she has taught. Her positive influence has touched so many lives and will continue to be felt for years to come.
While we will miss Christine greatly, we are delighted she is now embarking on a well-deserved retirement, and we wish her every happiness in this exciting new chapter.
We invite you and your children to join us in thanking Christine for her outstanding contribution to Moneyrea Primary School.
Messages, cards, and shared memories will mean a great deal as we celebrate her remarkable career.
Thank you, Mrs Floyd, for 25 years of dedication, care, and inspiration. You will always be a cherished part of the Moneyrea family.
