Have you been listening to the news recently? On Tuesday 28th April a small asteroid called 2020 HS7 passed the Earth at a distance of 23,000 miles. That sounds close, but there was never any risk to our planet. Small asteroids often pass Earth a few times per month.
Another larger asteroid (about 1.5miles in diameter) passed by Earth on Wednesday 29th April, but it was much further away (about 3.9 million miles). That's about 16 times the distance between the Earth and the moon.
