Notification of Post Primary Placement Placement Letters

Post-primary school placement letters should be received on Thursday 4 June. In the event that a letter does not arrive on Thursday 4 June I may be contacted between 11.00am and 2.00pm by:

email: rgreer448@gmail.com

phone: 07786 547311

This year 88% of pupils across Northern Ireland have been placed at their first preference school. This leaves a significant minority of children who will be placed at a school lower on their list of preferences.

If your child is placed at a lower preference school, you may wish to make contact with the post primary school which has refused your child a place, to determine the criteria against which your child’s application was rejected.

Admissions Helpdesk

Additional support is available from the EA Admissions Helpdesk. The Helpdesk will be in operation from 1pm to 5pm on Thursday 4 June 2020. It can be contacted on 028 9598 5595 or via email on postprimaryadmissions@eani.org.uk. Thereafter it will operate Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.

Unplaced Pupils Dedicated Helpline

Every year a small number of pupils are not offered a post-primary school place. A dedicated EA Helpline has been put in a place to support any parents of unplaced children and can be contacted on 028 9041 8053.

If your child is in this position, the key advice is for parents is to review the list of schools with places available, published on the EA website, and nominate further preferences as quickly as possible.

SEN Helpdesk

The SEN Helpdesk (028 9598 5960) can provide information to parents of children with Statements of Special Educational Needs. The SEN Helpline operates Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.

Appeals

Independent Admissions Appeal Tribunals are established by the Education Authority to consider appeals. If your child has been refused a place in a post primary school, you can appeal the decision of the Board of Governors.

These Tribunals will decide on whether or not a school has correctly applied its admissions criteria in deciding to refuse your child admission to the school.

These Tribunals cannot uphold an appeal on any other grounds. The actual substance of the criteria cannot be challenged in the appeal tribunal.

Information which was not made available to the post-primary school at the time it was making its decisions will not be taken into account at the appeal. Click here to go to the EA website
