Led by Tiarnan – a qualified Personal Trainer with 10 years’ experience, each session will focus on building fitness, improving coordination, and boosting confidence in a supportive, enjoyable environment.

Five members of our Moneyrea staff are taking part in the Belfast Marathon 🏃🏽‍♀️ in May to raise funds💰 for our wee school. 

They are going to make the hard yards.  All they  ask of our friends and family is that they make a donation on Katie's Just Giving page.

We are encouraging all of the boys and girls to dress up for our parade of book characters.

They played 4 matches, winning against Dundonald, Alexander Dickson and Brooklands and drawing with Andrews Memorial.

Recently, members of Sara’s family, school parents, former pupils, and our school community came together to raise funds for Action Cancer in her honour — a heartfelt tribute to how deeply she was loved.

The thoughts and prayers of the staff at Moneyrea, our Governors, Parents and PTA go to Sara's husband Ross and the children and to Sara's siblings, Suzie (PTA Treasurer), Connor, Gillian and the girls.

I want to send my heartfelt thanks to all the staff, pupils and parents at Moneyrea Primary School and Nursery. In particular all Samuel's friends in P6, Mr Greer, Mrs Shaw, Mr Brady, Mrs Carlisle and Mrs Presho. 

Samuel and myself have been so lovingly looked after this past week, and it has made this very difficult time that bit easier for us all.

Our staff‑led clubs will be running for six weeks after half term, right through until Easter.

Netball for Years 6 and 7 begins this Wednesday.

A reminder that school will close at 2.00pm this Thursday to allow all staff to take part in Autism (ASD) training.

School will also finish at 2.00pm this Friday for half term. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 16 February.

Our next PTA Meeting will take place on Tuesday 17 February at 7.00pm. We would really appreciate your support—our PTA plays an important role in school life, and our meetings are friendly, purposeful, and a lovely chance for parents and staff to connect in a relaxed setting.

An Amber weather warning has been issued for Northern Ireland, and after careful consideration we have decided that Moneyrea Primary School and Nursery Unit will be closed tomorrow. 

This decision has been made with the safety of our pupils, families, and staff in mind.

We understand that this may require you to adjust your plans, and we hope that sharing this information now helps you make the necessary arrangements for childcare.

Irrespective of their scores, we have assured them that they are still just as special as they always were. We know that they have given their best, and we are proud of all of them. They need to know that their score doesn’t change how proud we are of them as parents and teachers. The transfer test is just one small step on their educational journey.

Our children are so much more than a score or a band reported in an email : 

they are talented players, 
budding artists, 
fabulous fiction writers, 
meticulous researchers, 
magnificent musicians, 
fantastic prefects, 
compassionate classmates (most of the time), 
mind-blowing number crunchers, 
inquisitive thinkers, 
brilliant builders, 
incredible problem solvers, 
loyal friends, 
innovative entrepreneurs and 
thoughtful givers. 

They have so much still to learn, so much new stuff to explore, so much to give, so much to create, so many more belly laughs to laugh and a few more tears to cry. They are little people being formed and shaped with each new experience, each new day. Who knows what they will become; the options are limitless.

Saturday may be a testing time for you as a parent; stay calm (even when your head is upside down) and reassure your child that, together, you will find a good school for them in the days ahead. When foolish talk fills the airwaves, the WhatsApp Group and even the church hall, this is when you earn your corn as parents.

If your child is disappointed tomorrow, please do not allow them to beat themselves up over the result of an exam taken when they are just 10 years of age. Nothing is set in stone tomorrow; the world will continue to rotate on its axis, and the sun will rise. It is what they do moving forward that really matters.
   
Remind them, as Miss Daly and I have done, that they will never be asked for their transfer result on a job application or when applying for a further education place - it will be what they achieve at GCSE, BTEC or A-levels, etc. that will count. 

What is important is how they apply themselves from now on, and when they go to their new school, whatever its name, or the colour of its blazer or tie. They can all achieve great things. 

I think it is good for the children to talk to their classmates over the weekend about their scores, so everything is out in the open before they return to school on Monday. This can be difficult, but it does help. 

Although they are only 10 and 11 years old, we are asking them to be sensitive and mature; to be happy for those who are pleased with their result and to be considerate and understanding towards those who are perhaps disappointed or upset.

I also want to thank the children who did not sit the SEAG tests for the way they have supported their classmates throughout the first term of Year 7.

I’m writing to let you know that our school heating system is currently not working. 

Given the very cold weather, I have made the difficult decision to close the school tomorrow for the wellbeing of all pupils and staff.

Please note, nursery and nursery after school club are unaffected by this problem and will open as normal.

A heating engineer visited the school today and confirmed that the transformer unit requires repair. 

We are working urgently with the EA to have this resolved as soon as possible.

I apologise for the short notice and appreciate your understanding. 

Please be assured that we have been doing everything we can to address the issue.

Hopefully, school will reopen on Tuesday morning.

We’ve had quite a bit of illness going around school lately, so we’d really appreciate your help in keeping our school community healthy.

To stop bugs spreading, please remember that children who have been sick or had diarrhoea should stay at home until they’ve been clear for 48 hours. This follows NHS guidance and helps us protect all pupils and staff.

The boys and girls ran so well, even with the slippery ground and messy conditions, they all showed great sportsmanship, supporting one another from start to finish.

Safe to say that they have definitely earned a good scrub tonight.
The best reward of all came afterwards, a well-deserved McFlurry, enjoyed as they compared muddy legs and shared stories from the race. 
It was the perfect ending to a challenging but brilliant day. 
They made us so proud!
