Visit from an Aeronautical Engineer
On Friday 2nd October Mr Goudy came to visit P3. He works for a large company that designs and builds planes. Mr Goudy came to help us learn more about planes and flight. We had lots of really great questions ready for him:
After answering all our questions and showing us some model planes Mr Goudy helped us fly our planes (paper planes that is). It was great fun, Toby joined us to watch our planes and we even spotted an airplane while we were outside!
P3 really enjoyed our afternoon learning more about our topic Up, Up and Away.
Trip to Castle Espie
Our first trip of the year, and what a great trip it was! On Wednesday 21st October P3 donned their welly boats and warm coats and headed off to Castle Espie. After a short trip on the bus we were met by our guide Rachael who had lots of fun activities planned for us. First we visited the ducks and geese and fed them lots and lots of grain. Then we headed to the bird hide to search for Brent Geese. We got to use binoculars which was very exciting, if a bit tricky at first but P3 soon got the hang of it. Mrs Goudy had to climb out of the bird hide to rescue a pair of binoculars that somehow jumped out the window! Next P3 split into two teams to play a game of 'Find the Baby Duck' which was great fun. Before lunch Rachael taught us more about the long journey of the Brent Geese. She compared the journey the geese take to the journeys we take on holiday, just like we had been learning in class. Before we went back to school there was just time for a trip to Stoat Town Play Park. What fun! However, Mrs McCarter and Mrs Goudy were very tired and sweaty after pushing 32 children on the swings, so it was time to go. We had a fantastic day learning about wildfowl!
P3 went on a house hunt to see what types of houses we could find. We also visited a building site to learn more about how houses are built and the materials that are used.
Assisi Animal Sanctuary
Before the school Fun Run one of the chosen charities popped in to visit the children. Assisi brought Rabbits and Guinea Pigs for the children to see and told us a little about what the charity does.
On her last day teaching P3 Mrs Goudy tried to play a trick by having her twin sister take her place in class! However, P3 were too smart for that but loved having Mrs Fox to visit. They asked her lots of questions about being a twin, she stayed to help us during activity time and even read us a story. It was just like having two Mrs Goudys for the afternoon.
