Compost in a Bottle!

Last term, after the demise of Jack our class pumpkin, P5 pupils made compost in a bottle. We were planning to watch as the microorganisms slowly ate their way through the leaves, newspaper and vegetable scraps in our 'sealed' environments (2 litre soft drink bottles!) In some cases, the results produced were lovely wet smelly compost. Much to our surprise, however, quite a few of our bottles began sprouting potato plants, carrot plants and even dandelions!
